I have and I agree with him. The difficulty is way over rated from my

Is it that difficult? I wouldn't waste money on a driver, just stop
now and again.

Stop? Where? There is nowhere to stop on the Amalfi coastroad. Ok, if
you're a neapolitan driver you just stop in the middle of the road.

ROFL I thought I must have missed something other than head on collisions.

I thought I remembered a few lay-byes and turn-offs to villages?

Yes, there arent *lots* of places to stop, but when are there on
mountain roads? Its also wider than lots of roads in the lake district
or the highlands.

But have you ever driven the PCH? There is no comparison.
The Amalfi Coast isn't "dead man's curve" or anything. It's just
not the most enjoyable route for gawking, or pulling over
for the "view". Not as compared to the PCH which has specific
places to pull off for exactly that purpose. The PCH is vastly
longer as well.

no and I dont suppose there is.
My favourite drive is over the two passes in the english lake
district, Hardnott and Wrynose, very steep to the point of breaking
traction, very tight turns that have you on full lock looking out of
the side windows rather than the windscreen and often both those
features combined. (You get plenty of time to look at the view while
waiting for oncoming traffic at passing places). Thats driving, the
Amalfi coast is just a slightly narrow road with average bends.

theres pics here, they dont do it justice but if you look closely at
the R picture you will see a car perched half way up one of hte steep
sections.

You can sightsee while you're stopped to let a bus back up in order to get
around a tight corner.

1. If difficulty is war overrated - why would you want a driver?

2. If that is addressed to me, yes I have driven PCH - every year and
seeing this road on TV reminded me of it , so THAT's why I thought I
would enjoy it.

When you say there is no comparison ... in what way ? Is Big Sur drive
better/inferior to Almalfi?

Bobb
