more advice - - rome and amalfi coast

Hey guys,

Still need some more advice. Right now, we are thinking of being in
rome from nov 3-6 and then leaving the 6th morning to sorrento. Are
there some places we should see on the way? then we plan to stay in the
amalfi coast region from 6-10/11 back to rome for our return.

love suggestions on accomodations and on things to do (i.e. hiking,
eating, wine tours)
anything and everything is appreciated.

Yes. But many of them are things you could do FROM Sorrento
as well. But both Napoli and Pompeii are "on the way" and are
worthy of at least stops.

Technically, I'm not sure Sorrento qualifies as the
"Amalfi Coast Region" but none the less, that area has
alot of walking trails between the small towns. They
are quite hilly, and involve alot of stairs, but it can
give quite lovely views. I'm not sure you'll find alot
of wine country there, but they make alot of lemocello,
of many varieties actually. A "factory" in Sorrento
gives continuous free tastings, but no tours or anything.
The most common thing to do from Sorrento is
to take day trips by ferry to Capri and other locations in the
larger area. That time of year it might not be too
crowded either.

I assume you're going by train? If so you can easily do the Naples
Archaological Museum by leaving your luggage at the Naples Centrale
Train Station and then a short metro ride.
Or Pompeii by leaving your luggage at the ticket entrance.
Or Herculaneum if you're backpacker, wheeled luggage would be too much
hassle.

These directions will also take you to Sorrento as the same
Circumvesuviana Train also goes to & by Pompeii.

In addition to the limoncello, I enjoyed the nocillo (walnut liqueur)
there too.
