Getting bumped on award ticket?
I have a DL Award Ticket from MSY-DFW-LAX-TPE and I have a 12 hour layover
in LAX on March 17. Any chance of getting any freebies if I was to volunteer to get bumped? It is Spring Break season. Right now, there are only 15 seats available for the MSY-DFW segment on a CRJ 700 and 25 seats for the DFW-LAX segment on an MD88. I would love to fly First Class on a 762 to ATL and Business on a 777 to LAX. -- Andy P. Jung Metairie, Louisiana U.S.A. http://www.JungWorld.com/ To reply via e-mail, please visit my web site. |

In my experience, they don't care if the volunteer is flying on a free ticket. One time, I was flying with someone and the were on a free ticket on a WN "friends fly free" promotion. The plane was going from SJC to Burbank. The LA area was all fogged over, so after circling over the fog for awhile, we returned to SJC and the plane was needed for another flight. They offered everyone on board the value of their one way ticket, PLUS $200 to take an alternate plane. We ended up on a flight 1/2 hour to LA. My friend on the free ticket got the value of the ticket($0) plus the $200. It wasn't too bad, since the weather delay made us to late to get in a full day at Universal, and arriving in LAX made it easier to do something else that day. My best day on WN was a double bump on the Friday of a holiday weekend. I went to a job interview in San Antonio on a full fare ticket (over $700). One bump got me the one way fare plus $300. The confirmed my seat on the next flight, which again needed volunteers. I got $200 plus the cost of the one way fare. I think the total voucher value was around $1200. |

Getting bumped on award ticket?
I have been bumped in FRA or MUC (even involuntaried?) to IAD 4 or 5
times on UA with a legal seat in C using an upgrade. I have never been UG to F, and was once given the choice of renting a room for the night(my cost), or flying back through CDG, all in Y. I was voluntarily bumped twice on one free economy points ticket YVR - BKK with Canadian Airlines. I received one round trip anywhere in their system and an upgrade to business class on the first bump. Then, holding a business 'free ticket' three days later, I was bumped again and was given another system-wide business points ticket. Awesome! Treb |

UpGrade to First. Most first class ticket codes are either F or J.
