Around EUR 2,50. I can't remember the exact fare, sorry. I don't even
know if it was a shuttle bus provided by the airline, the airport, the
municipality or private: it looked blue, was just there, which was
handy.

Hanover, Northern Germany. A EUR 29,90 flight.

Yeah, and one of the bad things about it is that it's miles from Glasgow,
it's boring, it's cold, it's ... shall I go on ?

It's only 30 miles from Glasgow - about 40 minutes by car or train
It's even further from Edinburgh...you can at least get a train direct to Glasgow - 30 minutes - but Edinburgh-bound
folk not only have to change trains in Glasgow, they also have to change stations.

There are some Glasgow Central-Edinburgh Waverley direct trains but most folk have to get a taxi or walk
between Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street stations to access Edinburgh.

I think I would prefer to fly into Edinburgh directly and get the £5 return airport bus into town, 20 minutes as opposed
to what? 3 hours from Prestwick?

3 hours is quite an exaggeration. It should take just under 2 hours!
