Our very 1st cruise was on Oct '99. It was supposed to be 4 days on the
Tropical out of Tampa. However a couple of weeks before our cruise date
this ship suffered some major plumbing problems and was removed from
service for repairs & clean up. Carnival gave us two choices. A full
refund and 25% off a future cruise or we could drive to Miami and go on
the Imagination for 5 days and have an outside cabin instead of the
inside we booked. Carnival was not finished........they also gave us an
on- board credit of $100.00 each and surprised us with a check when we
got home for another $100.00. We were very impressed (and still are)
with this treatment. Needless to say we loved our 1st cruise and loved
the ship. As for what lesson...... did we learn? While Carnival was
generous to us we didn't have the "rock bottom steal" we thought we got.
We booked and paid brochure price (no saver fare) for the Tropical which
was at least twice what a travel agent would have quoted. Carnival won
us as faithful clients and we enjoyed our 12th Carnival cruise on the
Liberty in March this year. So say what you will about the "fun ships"
we think they are pretty darn good. Another time I went to the purser's
desk and complimented Carnival on certain changes we saw. Later that
day we found champagne in our cabin with a thank you note.

Dory, I have also been pleased with Carnival. Their cabins are
spacious, the employees are friendly and they have the largest variety
of foods on their lunch buffet. I love their Deli and their pizza.
Carnival may not be my favorite cruise line, but I still enjoy cruising
with them. I will be cruising on the Carnival Glory in September.
