Guys, you know going in that your privacy is about to be
invaded big-time, the more clothes you have on, the more
reassembly you'll have, and the more crap you have on hand,
the more akward its gonn'a be. Simplify. No coats, belts,
loose change, smelly shoes or holy socks.

Frankly, I'd rather have my privacy invaded for the sake of
security than risk ending up a piece of charcoal ona hillside
at the hands of a fellow passenger.

You're totally losing me on this one.

Being a little more informative, and avoiding splitting up a party,
would
have helped.

Secondary screening only takes a few minutes. The rest of your party
couldn't wait?

No-one mentioned secondary screening. I've only had the pleasure of
travelling through US airports every 2-3 years so these things are not
obvious.

And security scanning could have been a bit more dignified for the
passengers at TFS.

I have to assume you mean TSA. Why do you feel that it was undignified?

No, Tenerife South. The area where you put stuff in the plastic trays is
some distance from the actual scanners. And the same the other side.

We were going on holiday after all not entering prison.

TSA leaves a lot to be desired, but if you follow instructions, you're
through the security portion in a matter of a couple of minutes.

Perhaps you're a US citizen. From anywhere else you get a bit nervous.

Yes, I'm in the US.
I understand being nervous in a strange country. I travel regularly world
wide for business. I really hadn't noticed much difference in security in
South America and Europe, except for the fact that some other countries
don't inspect electronics and shoes as closely. However, one time while
leaving Canada, they had me remove all electronics and physically power each
up in front of them. Then they opened my tool box, and inspected each
individual tool. But the whole incident only took less than 10 minutes.

I think you'll find most of them put their butts as far out of harms way as
they possibly could.

Tell us all again about how many terrorists they've caught so far by the
ritual humiliation of passengers...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland
I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate
All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach
Time for tea.

The idea isn't to catch terrorists. The idea is to
*dissuade* them.

Back atcha: How many commercial aircraft in the security-
rife industrialized West have been hijacked by terrorists
since these procedures were implemented?

Who cares?

Nothing I've seen at any airport in the past couple of years would detect
the 'CIA plastic knife'.

So, why are they doing it?

It's useless, just a way of scaring people.

That's not what I've found.

If Americans even a few decades ago were the cowards that they are today,
they'd all be speaking German now.

At least one, on August 18, 2007.

There have been others as well. DYOFR.

How many flights have there been worldwide since August 18, 2007?
