Travel agents and consumers nationwide are invited to witness the event via live Web cast at www.ncl.com beginning at 4 p.m. EST. Mrs. Daniel K. Inouye, wife of Hawai’i senator Daniel K. Inouye, and a community leader who embodies Hawai`i’s charm, warmth and character will christen the ship.The 77,104-ton ship underwent a major transformation in May and was re-flagged and re-named on June 7th as Pride of Aloha in a poignant ceremony held in San Francisco. Once re-flagged, Pride of Aloha sailed a series of Pacific Coastal cruises. Beginning July 4, 2004, the ship will sail seven-day, round-trip Hawai’i itineraries, visiting all four main islands and giving passengers up to 96 hours in port. Ports of call include: Honolulu, O`ahu; an overnight in Nawiliwili, Kaua`i; Hilo, Hawai`i; Kona, Hawai`i; and an overnight in Kahului, Maui. Pride of Aloha employs over 800 U.S. seafarers and will generate hundreds of millions of dollars in economic benefits to Hawai`i and the U.S. The crew onboard hails mainly from Hawai`i, offering the island’s renowned ‘Aloha Spirit.’ Web users will need to have access to the latest version of Windows Media Player on their computer in order to view to the ceremony.
