If you're not wanting 4* there's a thousand places. What do
you want? Beach? Hinterland? Mountains?

Try www.wotif.com

or check out this site (I'm biased, it's my area, over the
border in NSW:-)

Look at the Big4 and Top Tourist Park sites. You can get a cabin at most of
these within your price range. You will find them all over Queensland. The
people are usually very friendly also.

There are beaches along the entire coast from Tweed Heads to Cairns. Some -
like the Gold Coast are major resort areas. Others like Agnes Waters or the
Town of 1770 are unspoiled quiet havens. North Stradbroke Island is
interesting, and close to Brisbane.
Then there are the near coastal 'hill resorts' - like Tamborine, O'Reilly's,
Montville, Atherton Tableland etc etc
Not to forget the Toowoomba, Warwick, Darling Downs 'garden' areas. All with
hotels, motels and quiet BnB's.
Then there's the outback - Longreach and the Stockman's Hall of Fame and the
Qantas Museum.

It's a BIG state - and just about every possible interest (except snow
skiing) is catered for somewhere.
