Recommendations - the perfect climate?
strawberry icecream wrote:
I was wondering where in the world posters would recommend for the perfect climate? This would also include having little danger of hurricanes, volcanic activity, earthquakes, etc. Any suggestions? TIA Redwood City, California. True, check your Almanac, it's got the world's perfect climate. Abby in Walnut Creek, CA |

Abby in Walnut Creek, CA Abby, I LOVED CA...altho LA was not my cup of tea. The one issue tho is the fault line in my fave city, SF...and also the high cost of house taxes. Yeah, unfortunately housing is very expensive in the Bay Area. I'm glad to hear that SF is your favorite city, fault and all! Abby in Walnut Creek, CA |

Admittedly my week in Edinburgh, in the mid 1980s, enjoyed an unusually hot week that summer. SF's climate is very European....cool mornings and warmer afternoons. I stayed down beside Union Sq. I lay out most days on the grass in Union Sq....the red London double decker bus would be parked beside the grass...and i would take a tour every other day. One day some some south american pan pipe players played...wow, awesome atmosphere. I ADORED SF.....it is such a romantic city.......a great place to fall in love in. Ahhhh, you see I feel the same way about San Francisco and I only live 25 min. away. The picture you paint is lovely! I don't know if you're asking this question because you are considering moving or just visiting, but if the former, then shouldn't you consider a place you love? The faultline doesn't trouble me or anyone I know and the weather around SF is ideal. Give it some thought Abby in Walnut Creek, CA |

Abby, thanks for the reply. Thank you, re mentioning the words that I painted re SF. I didn't want to bore you, but I could have spent an hour or two painting a much more detailed picture of my time down in Union Sq. I just adored the city. SF didn't seem like a city at all....it seemed more like a town. But you probabbly have heard all that before. I can't think of a more romantic city to fall in love in. It just seems so perfect. It is very different to every other American city that I have been in. Unlike many others, I loved the cool mornings and the fog off the Bay......and the temps that rose across the day. This reminded me of Europe. SF is the romantic capital of the world. I only wish that I could find somewhere in the outskirts that was affordable. Ironically enough, many Americans want to come live in Ireland...where I am! Well, it seems to me that you belong here then! You sound like a true San Franciscan. As far as expensive, that is really all relative isn't it? There are pockets of affordability in the outskirts, but this is according to my perception. So, now you've made me want to play hooky from work tomorrow and drive in to the City. Now, wouldn't you like to be able to say that? Do give it some thought, won't you? Abby in Walnut Creek, CA |

Carmel (near Monterey0.... But that might be too far for you. I would guess about 200 Km. |
