Default travel advice for the florida keys

The Florida Keys is a great place to free dive. Pretty much anywhere you go
it's relatively shallow all the way out to the reef, which is about 3 miles
offshore. Most depths inside reef are between 5 to 25 feet. Lots to see
down there and very shallow and great for the kids.

Renting a camper would be great, plenty of campsites all the way down, and
you can change sites everyday or as often as you like.

Some nice areas would be Key Largo, you can dive Molasses reef, pickles reef
and many others. You have John Pennekamp National Park so you can dive and
see the "Christ of the Abyss". Very beautiful and only about 20 feet deep.

Then you can go down a little further and Dive the Looe Key Sanctuary,
another great and shallow reef.

August is pretty slow down there so you should have no problem finding a
hotel, or campsite.

Have Fun

Hi,

My wife and I would like to celebrate our 10th anniversary in the
Florida Keys (we live near Daytona now). We would like to spend the
week from August 1st through August 6th down there. We plan on taking
our three kids (ages: 8-7-4) with us.

We are both experienced free-divers (with scuba experience)

We need some advice on the following matters:

1) which part of the keys is best adapted to *free* diving (not
scuba)? (we will probably take turns going down and pulling our kids
in tow in an inflatable boat - so it has to be near to shore)

2) where should we stay? We would like a cheap but clean
motel/house/condo/cabin *away form the noise*

3) do you think that it would be a good idea to rent a camper for this
trip?

4) any other tips?

Many thanks in advance,

GP
