NEW BARAJAS ( T1,T2,T3,T4,T4S):
940,000 square meters (10 Million sq feets) TERMINAL AREA
18,000 Passengers/hour
70 Millions passengers year Nominal capacity .
120 Operations/hour
104 JETBRIDGES
21, 800 parking slots

By comparison London Heathrow 360,000 sq meters , Atlanta (Terminal
Area plus Concourses T, A, B, C, D, and E) 530,000 sq meters

MAD it's biggest Terminal Area in the world.

Because of a political disput between the new central goverment and the

regional Madrid goverment , the extension of the actual metro line to
Terminal 2 to T4 , hasn't been made . The proyect is finalized and
recently the contract has been awarded , and paid , by Madrid regional
goverment , instead the central goverment that it's the airport's owner

.. In any case extension from T2 to new T4 will be finished before next
year May 2007 local elections.

New T4 already have the metro station constructed . The photos of the
Slide don't correspond to this metro station inside T4 , but of the APM

(Automatic Peoples Moves) that connects underground T4 with T4
Satellite building .

Bombardier url regarding Madrid Barajas Proyect

http://www.bombardier.com/en/1_0/1_2/1_2_2_1_3_12.jsp

This is Phase 1 of the proyect . Phase 2 will expand the APM to another

satellite building under proyect

APM-INTRA , runs the 2.100 meters between stations in T4 and
T4Satellite in less than 3 minutes , at 60 Km/hour . 13,000 passenger
hour ( 6,500 per direction ) ,by means of 6 trains of 3 CX-100 every
one . More trains can be added to transport more than 20,000 passenger
hour . An APM train departs for a given station every 2 minutes at peak

hours . It's operational 24 hours day , 7 days a week . The APM is
Driverless .

In Google Earth images of Madrid Barajas still can be seen the
underground way ,from T4 to T4S , and the underground line to the
future extra satellite building .

Another metro line will link Madrid North Station Chamartin with T4
..AVE station still is under study , but Nothing decided yet.

Until metro reach T4 in 1 year , free shuttle buses link metro station
at barajas town to T4 in 10 minutes . Also free shuttle inter-terminal

busses conecct all terminals T1-T2-T3-T4

Giving the spectacular Madrid Barajas growth , proyect ENAM (Estudio
Nuevo Aeropuerto Madrid) was realized . Still confidential , apparently

land have been reserved near Ocaña ,where several High Speed Train
Lines mix ( Madrid-Sevilla , Madrid-Valencia ) . Other pre-eliminary
studies are public

http://www.fundicot.org/grupo%202/aerodromo.PDF

In the study the expert reconmed to put the new airport where several
HSL mix , and re-balance urbanistically Central Spain
