Short Break in the UK
Just returned from a great short break holiday in the UK.
Did the usual stuff in London and Edinburgh but I really would advise eveyone to go up to the Scottish Highlands if you get a chance. It really is beautiful up there. Although I think the next time I go it will be during the summer. It was really cold when I went. Had a few problems getting last minute accommodation while I was in London. Eventually, got through a company called www.superbreak.com. Has anyone else used them before? |

Would recommmend going to the Isle of Skye or Oban, they are both great
places to go. Only thing with Skye in the summer is the midgies, but they have some great hotels and B & B's. We visit Oban every couple of years. We have two children under five and there are some great things for them to keep them entertained. Try it. |

Not peak season? Ok you try getting a last minute double room in London
for Valentines weekend! As for Mr. Hewitt, I would have put superbreak.com as a hyperlink if I was spamming? Friendly forum! |

Have never been to London before, would you recommend it for a family with two small children. Also, where are the best places to visit. Linda |

I have been there twice.
Sure..it depends on the age of your children. If they have read any history or been to see a Harry Potter movie it maybe interesting. I took my kids to Boston when they were 8 and 10 thinking it would be a fabulous adventure, Tea Party and such. Well it was a bust. I would go and set my expectations low.. London has lots of stuff...I think if you look at a guide book and just see it will be great. I would position the hotel near an Underground station..makes for easier getting around. good luck.. The science museum has several different activities aimed at different ages of children from toddlers upwards. All three South Kensington museums - science, natural history, and V & A - have a lot of provision for children. However the best thing that the V & A does for children is probably the museum of childhood at Bethnal Green; apart from a great selection of artefacts there are activities such as storytelling and a soft play area for the under 5s. Look at http://www.vam.ac.uk/vastatic/nmc/activities1.htm Martin |
