Traveling form dubrovnik to neighbor conutries?
hi,
If we wanted to visit Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Macedonia in the shortest amount of time, with a base in Dubrovnik, how would should we do that? I know this sounds a bit weird, but we just want to pass the border and really don't need to spend any time there... It's a competition Sincerely, HH |

Why don't you include those countries as well? Gerry |

Well, if you're just crossing the border, there's a strip of Bosnia not far north of Dubrovnik -- Neum, Bosnia's outlet to the sea. Or, it's only a few hours to Mostar so you'll at least see a historic city. Montenegro, also, is a short drive south. Kotar is very much worth a visit. Can't speak to the others, but remember that roads in the Balkans aren't exactly freeways. If you're going by bus, expect it to take much longer. Due to ethnic divisions, sometimes there is no straight route from city A to city B. You'll need to spend some time researching - Lonely Planet, or Rough Guide -- to make sure you make the right connections. Trains are limited to non-existent. It's not going to be like swinging through BeNeLux. If tile is reading this, he can probably give you a better answer. Also, try posting with these guys: misc.transport.rail.europe. They are an amazing fount of information. |
