Flagstaff
Hello,
I will stay 3 nights in Flagstaff in November. Is there anything to do? One day i will go to the Grand Canyon. Is it possible to reach the snowbowl by public transport? Or should I stay only 2 nights and go (via Greyhound) to somewhere else? (After Flagstaff, i will go to Las Vegas for 3 nights) Thanks Moritz Kahl |

There may be regional activities taking place. There are museums, Indian ruins, Walnut Canyon, etc. you may wish to visit. Also, the downtown area has some quaint shops to visit. One day i will go to the Grand Canyon. Is it possible to reach the snowbowl by public transport? If you mean by city bus, my guess is that no, there is no public transportation. Snowbowl is several miles from Flagstaff and outside city limits. Or should I stay only 2 nights and go (via Greyhound) to somewhere else? Are you renting a car? There are tour buses that leave from Flagstaff to go
to Grand Canyon, but if you want to go anywhere else, I think you're on your own. There is very little to do in Flagstaff. There is the Meteor Crater that is located outside of Flagstaff which is a few hours drive. Also, there is a petrified forest which is further than the Meteor Crater. kate ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` Moritz Kahl wrote in message ... Hello, I will stay 3 nights in Flagstaff in November. I believe it is called "Black Barts" (but I could be wrong), supposedly the food is good but the service is less than stellar. The actors are college types. I'm sure that anyone in town will know about it. Something fun to do. SD |

The foloowing are very much worth visiting within an hour or two drive from Flagstaff: Oak Creek Canyon Sedona Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monuments Walnut Canyon Meteor Crater Petrified Forest ntional Monument (a longer drive) Cameron Indian trading post ************* DAVE HATUNEN ) ************* * Tucson Arizona, out where the cacti grow * * My typos & mispellings are intentional copyright traps * |

Flagstaff is a great base of operations to see lots of fascinating natural and manmade attractions, including Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, and Lowell Observatory (where Pluto was discovered), just to name a few. There is the Meteor Crater that is located outside of Flagstaff which is a few hours drive. A few hours??? It's only 35 miles from Flagstaff. A fast, easy drive, and well worth a visit in my opinion. Flagstaff is a great base for visiting some wonderfully scenic parts of Arizona, but a car would be very desirable. That said... There is very little to do in Flagstaff. It's not the hoppingest place, but it's a pleasant small town with a lot of students, and it seems to have a busy bar and music scene for a town its size. Great Mexican food too, of course. I could kill a day there no problem, maybe even too. But I'd recommend getting a car if possible. -- --- Eric Holeman Chicago Illinois USA |
