Default France most beautiful villages...

Repost of an interesting link for those who have enough time to get out
of big towns.

http://www.les-plus-beaux-villages-de-france.org/en

The villages join together by co-optation.

Some of my favorites

http://www.saint-cirqlapopie.com/en/index.htm

http://www.les-plus-beaux-villages-d.../sainte-enimie

Not every nice villages choose to join the association, so discoveries
are still possible.

Chalencon.

Great site! I'd also add Opède-le-Vieux and maybe Lacoste in the Luberon.

Nothing at all about how to get to them.

As far as I'm concerned if I can't see them by public transport they
might as well not exist. (French rural public transport sucks).

Locate the town or village web site using the tourists office directory :

http://www.tourisme.fr/
(used to be ugly but useful, awkward now)
Enter village name (ex. Moncontour) in the "Rechercher" box, click
"valider".
http://www.tourisme-moncontour.com/

Public transport in rural zone completely impractical.
use fr.altavista.com or www.google.fr
and look for "transports publics conseil general someregionname"
