AB InBev increases the price of a pint

Thu 08/01/09 17:18 - The price of beer belonging to brewer Anheuser
Busch InBev (AB InBev) is going up once again. From March a pint of
beers such as Jupiler and Stella will cost some 3.3% more. This is the
third price hike in a year's time.

The prices of products by AB IBbev are going up by an average of 3.5%.
The popular pilsner beers will go up by 3.3%.

According to AB InBev the price increase is necessary to compensate
for the higher costs of energy, raw materials and packaging.

This reasoning has been greeted with questions by the competition.
"The prices have gone down recently," points out brewery Haacht.

It is not yet clar whether the price hike will be passed along to the
consumer in bars and cafés.

Brewery Duvel-Moortgat is also increasing prices in March. Alken-Maes
has not yet decided if it will follow suit.
