Any experience good or bad with trip insurance sold by Travelex brokers and written by Nationwide? Am thinking of buying a policy for an upcoming trip of 25 days to Europe. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *Mike Travelex is a very good company - one of the largest in the USA. I've been selling their products for years and my clients have always found them to be good. I also sell products for over 13 other travel insurance companies so my experience isn't baised by only selling one company. The new products that they offer through Nationwide are very competitive with products offered by the other companies and their medical and baggage coverages are primary which is the exception rather than the rule with travel insurance. |

Also CSA has a coverage plan that covers pre-existing conditions if purchased within 24 hours of final payment. I bought that one for a cruise last December. -- Charles We are last-minute bookers, and that CSA-within-24 plan is the one I like to buy. As a reminder to all, pre-existing conditions aren't just yours--they are also those of your non-traveling family members. Most healthy folks don't need pre-ex coverage for themselves, but if any of those saying bon voyage have health issues that could cause you to cancel or interrupt your trip in the event they escalated to grave illness or death, then you need pre-ex coverage. Diana Diana THANK you for understanding that! SO many think ONLY of theirselves and not of the people at home. INSURANCES do not want to pay they find angles. SO the key is to DOCUMENT anything that may happen get a police report Doctors notes, keep receipts when Your away. BUT if someone at home has something come up and its a health issue YES YOU need pre existing to put a claim in. that is why 3rd party insurances are better then most cruise lines. But yes think of the others at HOME if they have a medical prob Susette Cruise Outlets and Travel 833 Kings Hwy Woodbury, NJ 08096 856-853-9515 www.cruiseoutlets.com |

We have a concern about pre-existing conditions and have found that HRH International has a plan which does not exclude pre-existing conditions if the insurance is bought within 10 days of final cruise payment. For most plans to cover pre-existing conditions, you need to buy the insurance within 10 or 14 days of the first payment. TravelGuard told me that the way to handle this is to buy the minimum amount of insurance within that period, and then pay up to increase the policy limit when you make the later payment(s). How is this handled when one uses the NCL plan of prepayment? I paid them while ON the cruise and the money paid results in a US$100 on board credit for each deposit made, up to 4 of them, for the cruise one is on. Each deposit also serves as the FULL deposit for a future cruise, which must be signed up for and taken sometime in the next 2.5 years... so technically first payment has already been made but the cruise has not yet been booked or chosen, and may not be chosen or book for up to two years! Rather difficult to cover pre-existing conditions if you need to buy within 2 weeks of making that payment while on a cruise! Also, I am in Canada so in most instances U.S. insurance is NOT available to me. Any suggestions about who is best for Canadian travellers looking for cancellation and medical insurance for out of Canada travel? FWIW, RsH |
