2 week turnaround for our passport renewals

I mailed the applications and old passports on 4/16. They came in the
mail today.

At least our government is being efficient now in this one area.

I think its been going that way for over a year now. We renewed last
year and had the same results. Very refreshing!

Sure, now that they actually have enough people to do the job.

Clinton cut the size of the agency in the late 90's. After Congress
passed the bill requiring passports and Bush signed it, no one thought
to wonder if the agency had enough people.

After the **** storm started, an additional 350 were hired. It took
about 6 weeks for them all to become effective and within another 6 or
7 weeks, the backlog was cut in half.

Now that the State Dept has said "this is the really and truly
absolute final date" most people have them.
