Default Fred Lanyard Passes Away!

Hi Everyone,

I know many long-time r.t.cruises' readers remember Fred Lanyard. I
received the news last night that he passed away on Saturday. I was
told that he was hospitalized with pancreatitis and died suddenly.
Fred was a long-time poster and TA here on r.t.cruises. I believe he
was the TA on one of the summer GGC's out of NYC. I have not seen him
posting in quite some time. I had received a few e-mails over the
last few years that indicated he was still reading r.t.cruises. He
and his wife came up to Santa Barbara to meet me on one of his
frequent trips to LA to visit his son. I am sure Fred's many friends
wish his wife and family sincere condolences.

Best regards,
Ray

Ray, I am so sorry to hear this. I have often wondered what happened to him
because he had not posted for so long. He was one of the very nice people
who made my entry to rtc pleasant and mailed me some information that I
needed, even though he was not my T/A.
My sympathy goes to his family for their loss.

I had just talked to Fred about two weeks ago. He booked us on our
Alaska Cruise for May 22. The last time i talked to him he was excited
about his new grandson and looking forward to seeing him. He was a
great guy and I was privileged to call him my friend. He will truly be
missed by my mom and me and by his other friends. My thoughts are with
Lois and his family.

Ray,
I am very sorry to hear this.He taped some shows off the Travel Channel for
me once and sent them to me at his cost. I had just e-mailed him about a
month ago but got no reply.
My condolences to his family.

Oh this is too bad. I remember Fred from years back. I, too was hospitalized
with pancreatitis a year ago, and it is extremely painful. I'm so sorry to
hear this.

I'm so sorry to read this. He was a very nice person. During one trip to
Alaska he bought t-shirts for our kids and mailed them to us. They just
showed up at our door out of nowhere. He had no reason to get them for
us... other than just being nice. He lived in the town where I grew up, a
few miles from where we now live. I returned the favor with a small
painting - which he said he loved. We were e-mail friends even though I
never even booked with him.

It's a loss for the r.t.c. community.

Our condolences to Lois and the rest of his family.
