Default River cruise in France

I'm considering a July 2010 river cruise in France on Viking River Cruises.
Has anyone had this experience? What do I need to know? Are there other
cruise companies that are better, or cheaper? Thanks in advance for any
input.

If this is what you like, okay, but have you looked into the barge cruises?
My wife and I took a barge cruise from Dijon to Lyon about a year ago and
had a blast. We are going in Oct to take a barge cruise of the Canal du
Midi. The barge from Dijon carried only 20 passengers and the one on the
Canal carries only 10. They may be more expensive but you get day trips
every day, good food prepared by the onboard chef, with two wines at each
meal and several cheeses at each meal.

That sounds fun. How long was the trip?
