"Zoeliz" wrote in message ... ou only need to have 7-8 bad guys on a plane. So which are the flights not to go on? I'm planning a trip between the UK and the US in a few weeks and I'm getting frightened of taking the trip. Zoe But are you more frightened of terrorists or of Air Marshalls making bad decisions ? |

But are you more frightened of terrorists or of Air Marshalls making bad decisions ? Air Travel "FEAR FACTOR" Ratings (in descending order of severity).... 1, Lasagna the only entree available 2. Inexplicable, unpredictable, unpreventable mechanical failure AKA "The F*cking Fickle Finger of Fate points your way." 3. Middles seat filled with traveling unbathed Bulgarian Weightlifters 4. Pilot error 5. Two legs on UA 6. Pants fall off after removing belt 7. Braniff or Eastern return to skies 8. Violent Thunderstorms/Widshear/Downdraft after a/c in final approach 9. Terrorists 10. Sky Marshall making bad decision |

I'm planning a trip between the UK and the US in a few weeks and I'm getting frightened of taking the trip. Despite regular alerts and warnings, and elevated 'threat colors' since 9/11, nothing has ever happened. Which is not to say that it couldn't, but that the odds of your being involved are infinitesimally small. The administration will of course claim that nothing has happened because of the alerts, warnings etc. etc., a stance which (conveniently) cannot be proven or disproven. If we knew when or indeed if Al Q'aida will strike again, we could dispense with 99% of the current security nonsense. But since we don't, the Jacobsen School of Paranoia rules. Relax. |

Relax.
Hi, I do appreciate the rational thought behind all you have said--I know that you're right. But, I have been a nervous flyer since 1968! Of course, all the dire warnings in the newspapers don't help matters. What are the Jacobsen School of Paranoia rules? Zoe |
