Default Going around the country with Myanmar Focus Tour

Tour Code (MFT # 8)
Travel Itinerary for 13Days / 12Nights

Day 1 Upon arrival at Yangon Int'l Airport by p.m. flight, you will be
welcomed by a tour guide and transferred to the hotel. Dinner (to own
account). Overnight at KANDAW GYI PALACE HOTEL or INYA LAKE HOTEL.

Note * If arriving on morning flight, a morning of sightseeing will include
city highlights as shown in the itinerary of Day 13.

Day 2 After breakfast, drive to KYAIK HTO where you will take a local
pick-up truck to the half way station. From there you will walk about 45
minutes to proceed to the GOLDEN ROCK. On the sides of the path, you will
pass the herbal medicine shops, local snack stands, some people sitting on
the chair set like a palanquin carried by four people and some kids in the
bamboo baskets. Lunch at a local restaurant. Relax and watch the sun drop
into the blue and hazy mountains from the Golden Rock, a complete gold
plated bolder. Dinner and overnight at GOLDEN ROCK HOTEL or KYAIK HTO HOTEL.

Day 3 After breakfast, drive back to Yangon. En route, visit BAGO, a former
Mon capital that flourished in the 17th century. SHWEMAWDAW, SHWE THA LYAUNG
and KYAIK PUN PAGODAS are famous ones. Lunch at a local restaurant. Return
to Yangon and explore the city with its tree-lined avenues, fine Victorian
architecture, bustling markets and picturesque waterfront. Make a tour
through Yangon's colonial-style city center where SULE PAGODA is situated.
Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at KANDAWGYI PALACE HOTEL or INYA
LAKE HOTEL.

Day 4 After breakfast transfer to the airport for a.m. flight to fly to
Bagan. Upon arrival, check in the hotel and prowl the colorful local NYAUNG
OO MARKET. And you'll depart on a full day tour of the most significant
pagodas of Bagan including SHWEZI GON PAGODA, GUBYAUK GYI TEMPLE, HTILO
MINLO TEMPLE and ANANDA TEMPLE. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch,
visit one of Myanmar's treasured handicrafts, a LACQUERWARE WORKSHOP. At
sunset time, you will climb to the summit of a tall, serene structure and
watch panoramic scene of glorious Bagan and the sun drop into the distant
hills. Magical moments! Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at THANDE
HOTEL (Riverside).

Day 5 After breakfast you will drive to MT.POPA, an extinct volcano rising
nearly 5000 feet above sea level. This Burmese "Mt. Olympus" is the home of
the Nats (powerful national spirits) and an important pilgrimage site.
Everything about the place is dramatic: the lush vegetation on the
mountain's slopes; the petrified forest along the road; the complex of
monasteries and shrines perched on the rocky crag; and endless views of the
plains below. Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight at POPA
RESORT.

Day 6 After breakfast, a 130-mile drive (7 hours) by road will take you to
KALAW. This journey will make you enjoy the countryside landscape of central
BURMA. Lunch at a local restaurant. Upon arrival in KALAW, a British former
hill station town, you will check-in the hotel. Dinner and overnight at PINE
HILL RESORT.

Day 7 Breakfast at the hotel. You'll take a scenic drive to PINDAYA. The
famous caves are situated in a limestone ridge overlooking a small lake;
their endless chambers are filled with thousands of Buddha images, some of
them hundreds of years old. Stroll out to the pond at Pindaya's center and
watch the bustle and mirth of the townspeople. A smile is all that is needed
to overcome any language or cultural barriers. Visit also a Shan Paper
Umbrella Workshop. Shan people have had a tradition of making papers from
mulberry barks. Lunch at a local restaurant. Depart Pindaya on the 3hr drive
through the countryside of the Shan Hills, past many colorfully dressed
tribal people to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway to Inle Lake. Take the boat ride
to transfer to the floating hotel. Dinner and overnight at GOLDEN ISLAND
COTTAGES.

Day 8 Breakfast at the hotel. An excursion by boat on LAKE INLE will include
sights of the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of
fishing, village life and magnificent sceneries. Full day visits are made to
PHAUNG DAW OO PAGODA, the weaving village of INNPAW KHON, a LOCAL MARKET in
the lake-region (on market days only) and NGAPHE CHAUNG MONASTERY (jumping
cats). Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight at GOLDEN ISLAND
COTTAGES.

Day 9 Breakfast at the hotel. Return to Nyaung Shwe and drive to Heho
Airport to catch p.m. flight. Arrive Mandalay and transfer to hotel. Visits
are made to SHWE NANDAW MONASTERY, KUTHODAW PAGODA and view over the city
from MANDALAY HILL when the sun goes down. Lunch and dinner at local
restaurants. Overnight at SEDONA HOTEL or MANDALAY HILL RESORT.

Day 10 Breakfast at the hotel. This morning it's off to the lovely
countryside around Mandalay to explore AMARAPURA that has fine pagodas,
ruins of the old palace and shops specializing in cotton and silk longyis as
well as wood and marble carvings. The U BEIN BRIDGE, a long and meandering
structure built of teak, spans TAUNGTHAMAN LAKE. A stroll here is an
absolute delight. You will also have the opportunity to observe the monks
having their last meal of the day in total silence. Lunch at a local
restaurant. Return to Mandalay and visit the most revered religious monument
in Mandalay, the MAHA MUNI TEMPLE. Continue to MANDALAY PALACE, GOLD LEAF
INDUSTRY and HANDICRAFTS SHOPS those sell wood- carvings, Burmese
marionettes and richly embroidered tapestries Dinner at a local restaurant.
Overnight at SEDONA HOTEL or MANDALAY HILL RESORT.

Day 11 After breakfast, transfer to the SAGAING HILLS those sit above the
Ayerwaddy River and are the site of crumbling pagodas and many active
shrines. Nearby is the one mile-long Ava Bridge which was built during
British times and was the first bridge across the country's major waterway.
Drive to KAUNG HMU DAW PAGODA and SILVER SMITH WORKSHOP. After lunch at a
local restaurant, continue by road to MONYWA (90 miles - 4 hrs) with visits
to incredibly ornate THAM BUDDHAY TEMPLE, with 580,000 Buddha Images in the
niches built from the dream designs of a noted monk and RECLINING BUDDHA.
Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at MONYWA HOTEL.

Day 12 After breakfast, early start to cross the CHINDWIN RIVER by
ferry-boat and proceed by coach to PHOWUN TAUNG, a seldom visited complex of
cave temples and shrines dating back to 17th century containing some very
fine mural paintings. Return to MONYWA.
After lunch at a local restaurant, drive back to Mandalay. Dinner at a local
restaurant. Overinght at MANDALAY HILL RESORT or SEDONA HOTEL.

Day 13 After breakfast, transfer to the airport to fly back to Yangon. Lunch
at a local restaurant. After a photo stop at KARAWEIK HALL, a"hamsa
bird-shaped floating barge" on KANDAW GYI (ROYAL) LAKE, visit a huge
reclining Buddha Image - CHAUK HTAT GYI PAGODA. Also stroll through the
BOGYOKE (SCOTT) MARKET with hundreds of food, clothes, handicrafts and gem
stores. Complete your last day in Myanmar with visit to one of the world's
most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA that towers over the
capital and never fails to enchant visitors. Transfer to the airport for
p.m. flight.

Note * If arriving on morning flight on Day 1, transfer to airport for
departure
