Default Booking trains from Florence to Pisa and Siena

I'm trying to book train journeys from Florence to Pisa, and another trip to
Siena. I used the following site:

http://www.trenitalia.com/

If I check Rome to Florence or Rome to Pisa, it provides results. However,
if I check Florence to Pisa and Florence to Siena it returns nothing. I've
tried "Firenze" instead, but it makes no difference. It says "no solution
found".

Can anyone else successfully search for these journeys? Is there any other
site I can try? Perhaps I should be trying a regional rail provider?

Many thanks.

Don't know why they don't pop up , but it's local trains.
Now if you're looking for schedules only ,you can try the German timetable :
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
You can easy buy tickets in the ticket window or in automats.
Just remember they must be stamped before travelling.
Florence-Pisa and Florence-Siena are Trenitalia trains, just beware that the
mentioned timetable doesn't include all private railways in Italy.
Could also be reason to know that the train station in Siena is on some
distance from city centre.

Off the top of my head I'm fairly certain that the trains from Florence
to Pisa and Siena are local/regional-type trains with no reservations so
no advanced booking.

I recall the Florence-Pisa train runs somewhat hourly (70mins maybe?).

Tickets on these type trains are valid from A to B for I believe 60
days, you just stamp it in a 'validation machine' and board the train on
your travel day.

Below are my directions from a few years ago from the Pisa Centrale
Train Station to the piazza with the Leaning Tower, duomo, museums, etc
assuming that's where you are heading.
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...2&tid=34408155

Also someone posted in that thread about the other closer (5min) train
station (S. Rossero?) to the Piazza.
But I recall 2 regular posters on Fodors mentioned that this is in a
seedy area, 1 mentioned discarded needles and another saw the aftermath
of a physical assault/robbery on a lone older tourist.

The Florence bus to Siena seems to be the most popular choice over the
train.
This was going to be my choice a few years ago but I ended up renting a
car due to 2 train strikes and a mass transit-type strike that all fell
on my travel days, I was zig-zagging down from Milan to Rome on that
trip.

Google florence siena bus "piazza garibaldi" which will bring-up
info on the SITA bus to Siena.
It's a 1:20 min journey (I believe non-stop) which drops you within the
City Walls of Siena.
The train station is outside the city.
Regards, Walter

I've tried just now.
I have not chosen any time, but leaved the default time ('now', so 4
PM), and I found many choices from Firenze to Siena in both the Italian
(my language) page and the English page...
The same on the route Firenze-Pisa.
I don't know why you have no answer.
Beware!
In Florence you will find three train stations, and many local trains
starts from the two secondary stations...
The stations a

1) Firenze Santa Maria Novella (normally shown as 'SMN'): the main
terminal station where all trains stops and restarts on the opposite side.
All MAIN trains start from and arrive here.
Only some very long journey train, not very important for Florence
passengers (some North-South overnight train) will stop only ad Campo
di Marte or Rifredi.

2) Firenze Rifredi (normally shown as 'RIFR').

3) Firenze Campo di Marte (normally shown as 'C.M.').

Ciao, Piero.

No idea why the OP has no answer. Did he perhaps try a date in late June
after the timetable change ? Maybe the data are not loaded yet.

Other posters provided already useful advice and better than I can do
(summary is anyhow : not worth to reserve on regional trains).

In general I prefer the following two sites to the main trenitalia site
for timetable information (for tickets I still prefer to buy them at the
station)

http://home.arcor.de/e.lauterbach/au...fplanx-en.html
(German railway text interface, fast and nice, good for all Europe)

http://www.viaggiatreno.it/viaggiatreno/
(trenitalia, with real time info and maps)
