Default Beijing at Christmas

Hello,

My friend and i are going to be in Beijing from the 23rd of December
to the 3rd of January and were just wondering if anyone had any tips
of specific things to do/see? Obviously, we want to visit all the key
sites, but were just wondering if anything specific will be happening
during the festive season?

Also, we are quite keen to have a "Chinese" lunch on Christmas day -
can anyone recommend any restuarants where we will be able to find
traditional chinese food (as opposed to Turkey etc that a lot of the
hotels appear to be doing)?! We are n ot entirely sure how much will
be open on chrismtas day?

Thanks so much in advance!

As the Chinese don't traditionally celebrate Christmas, why would anything
special happen then?

Haven't been in Beijing for Christmas, but for future reference,
Christmas in Hong Kong is nice. Families promenading at night along
the Kowloon waterfront looking at the lit buildings across the harbor

No. Avoid Beijing at all costs at that time of year.

No. You cannot find Chinese food in Beijing on XMAS as the city
government requires all restaurants to serve a traditional XMAS dinner.

Try the Fang Shan Restaurant. Very Nice.....a bit pricey. In park, on an
island...excellent stuff.

Good luck. Nearby Forbidden City etc.
