Gulf Air - a company to avoid
I recently took Gulf Air Flights from London to Abu Dhabi, where I stayed a few
days, then on to Kathmandu. Repeated flight cancellations and, at the last, an overbooked flight for which I was denied travel, meant that I missed two major Nepal festivals. I gather that Gulf Air routinely overbooks their flights, so CAVEAT EMPTOR. Becasue of the overbooking, I was given hotel accommodation and meals and a $250 voucher (good only on full-fare flights on Gulf Air, so worthless to me). I would have been far better off paying more to fly a more reliable airline and will not fly Gulf Air again. Larry in Bangkok seaotter6 at aol dot com |

Gulf Air - a company to avoid
Whereīs the problem? I lived exactly the same with Lufthansa and donīt think
itīs a company to avoid. In fact all companies overbook their flights, thatīs the real world. Other carriers, from developing countries mainly, wonīt solve accomodatio, no hotel, voucher or even meals, nothing, of course cheaper. "Orzowei" ... Whereīs the problem? I lived exactly the same with Lufthansa and donīt think itīs a company to avoid. In fact all companies overbook their flights, thatīs the real world. Other carriers, from developing countries mainly, wonīt solve accomodatio, no hotel, voucher or even meals, nothing, of course cheaper. You clearly missed the point. The point is which criteria the companies apply when they have to select the passengers who have to stay on the ground. Do we agree that there are companies who apply some very dark criteria? When there are overbookings, some companies clearly prefer muslims and dislike other people, so they have to stay. These criteria we in mostly label as "racist" isn't it ? That's the point |

That's the point I didn't see any such suggestion in Larry's complaint about Gulf Air. Where did you get this idea that he was bumped because he wasn't a muslim? In fact how do you even know he isn't.? because i know Larry |

Racist? I have no information as Iīve never flown Gulf, but what surprises
is that the complaint from Larry comes against a company ranked four stars, that is better that for instance Air France or Thai Airways. Of course I missed the point as the poster never mentioned the racist issue, perhaps, us western travellers are much used to be granted when travelling third world countries. Too often somebody tends to generalize after a bad experience, as a thread bellow regarding the old and dangerous planes run by Royal Air Cambodge, if my information is not outdated and the company started again operations after the bankrupted, the carrier was run those days by the Malaysian Air System and even though there were not reported accidents since 1975, the you can think, what are they talking about? Well, to be honest, Lufthansa is pretty crap on their African and Asian flights service wise. Overall unfriendly staff, who wants you to be seated (strapped down would even be more convenient)all flights. Air France or Iberia have better service. |

Jokertje Sorry to disagree Lufthansa is among the best for service and customer friendliness Air France you say ? Rude, that's the correct word to summarise the behaviour of the Air France personnel Dirty, thats the perfect word to summarise the status of their airplanes Heb je al eens met de nieuwe Swiss gevlogen ? De Zwitsers zijn de wereldkampioenen in smalle zetels en kleine beenruimte Bovendien moet je sinds kort op elke Swiss vlucht betalen voor een frisdrank, een sandwich, een water Never seen before, 2 EUR for a glass of water That's the new Swiss Thai Airwais is still the best. Singapore or Malaysia can't beat them |
