Troubled Ship Returns to Port Everglades!
Hi Everyone,
I saw this Associate Press article in the Bradenton Herald and thought it would be of interest. http://tinyurl.com/2y4zn If you have missed any of my news' postings, they are available on my web site. Best regards, Ray LIGHTHOUSE TRAVEL 800-719-9917 or 805-566-3905 http://www.lighthousetravel.com |

Troubled Ship Returns to Port Everglades!

Hi Everyone, I saw this Associate Press article in the Bradenton Herald and thought it would be of interest. http://tinyurl.com/2y4zn I saw the interviews last night on the news after the Orange Bowl (go Buckeyes!). They of course fund the unhappy ones who bitched and moaned, as it was a major disappointment, but ended the story with a nice middle-aged woman who said "We weren't in the snow, we were in St. Thomas, we're getting our money back, who cares?" She also said that the officers, crew and all staff were as nice as possible and everything was quite wonderful, considering. Chris |

Troubled Ship Returns to Port Everglades!
Hey Ray,
According to the article you advised us of, "Olympic World Cruises' liner Olympia Voyager and its 800 passengers could only visit U.S.-controlled ports after a federal bankruptcy judge ordered the ship to avoid all foreign ports," how does this comply with the requirement of visiting at least one "foreign" port? Hi Mark, It did not visit the foreign port so it will be subject to any fine. The company could ask for a waiver as Carnival did when they violated the law because of weather. The waiver may or may not be granted. It may become moot since the survival and any funds being left are in doubt. There was no violation. The U.S. Virgin Islands are not subject to the coastwise trade laws (Passenger Service Act and Jones Act). |
