Quick Rhapsody Roundup -- okay, well it turned out to be notso quick vbg

When we were on the Rhapsody, 2/04, we had hurricane force winds and the ride was very smooth. That had to be really bad if the ship had a HUGE list. Sue, all I can tell you is the Windjammer was closed the next morning because of water damage. We heard about the reason from the crew and other passengers, then from official announcements from the bridge. From what I understand, it took place at about 3 in the morning, but as I said, we slept right through it. We did hear from others on board that their cabins had some damage, as well, but from what I understand, there was no major glass breakage and flooding as has happened on other ships under worse circumstances. I think we may have been (ever so slightly) inebriated when we went to sleep. I'm sure that helped us miss the overnight waterworks ;-). All in all, I think Captain Teo did a remarkable job trying to keep us in relatively calm seas. This list, he said, was due to a huge, unanticipated wind gust that just tossed us around a bit. It's really kinda scary when you think about it, but he said the safest place to be is at sea, rather than tied up in a port somewhere where you can sustain all kinds of terrible damange. I'll take eggs benedict in the dining room over that any time!! ~ Peri |

I don't remember our Captains name, but whoever it was did a wonderful job for the entire week. We were on the cruise that was going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and we wound up docked in Gulf Port instead. Not only did they get alot of busses to take people to NO, but the Captain had a session with the passengers and was very good about taking all kinds of questions and abuse. I'll take eggs benedict in the dining room over that any time!! I like the way you think!! I can't wait for next sunday when we set sail on the Infinity. sue |

January 2007 is too long, Peri! I think I'm betting good odds if I wager
you'll break down between now and then and take a last-minute break from being up to your neck in alligators with preparations for the big Bat Mitzvah. That's a terrific milestone for your daughter...this is your baby, right? We were on the Millie in the Med a couple of years ago. Nice ship. While Christmas cruising on the Sun Princess, which was awfully nice--love that size, like the Rhapsody (although we could've used the Rhapsody's friendly and fun-loving Texas crowd, LOL)--our son said it had been too long since we'd been on RCI, and he'd seen the commercials. He wants to check out the new one. So, dad--not even under the influence--came this close to an enforceable promise that the Ball family would find Freedom on the Seas in 2006. Stay tuned! It would be fun to match cruises at the same time, Peri. Am I suffering a middle-aged brain freeze, or don't you have some teen boys that our DD would have fun hanging out with? And our son & your Bat Mitzvah daughter would have a blast together. Really enjoyed reading what a good trip you had.... Diana |

Oh, Diana, you know me way too well for someone I've never met :-). Of
COURSE we will try to sneak something else in before January of next year! Your memory is good...Jordan is, in fact, my youngest. She'll be 13 this August, and her brother Justin will be 15 this May. Our kids would certainly make good cruise buddies. Eagerly awaiting the Ball take on the Freedom. I think we'll wait until the novelty (and rate frenzy) wears off a bit before we sample the ship. Plus, after this last cruise, I realized how much I enjoyed the relative intimacy of a smaller ship. Not sure when/if I want to do a Voyager/Freedom class again (although I'm sure that my kids, like your son, will have other thoughts on the matter!). ~ Peri D Ball wrote: January 2007 is too long, Peri!
