Default question re Fort Myers area's

It seems some people have a swimming pool cage, others do not.
Can someone tell me what time of the year one really would want one for
bugs and ?? or is it not nessecary at all in that area of Florida and
people just have it to keep the pool clean of leaves and debris?
Also, are there special pre-cautions to take when renting close to a
marsh ( sp??); can crocodiles come onto the property in those area's?
Thanks for your input

First, there are no crocs near Ft. Meyer's or even the nearby
Everglades/Big Cypress swamp. There is a small croc population
near Key Largo. Instead, what you find in the area are "alligators."
Alligators are not crocodiles. Alligators prefer natural ponds to pools.
Its rare, but occasionally, a wayward gator (usually a small one) will
wander into a pool, particularly if its near a wetland or canal. All it
takes is a call to the local Game+Fish Commission Office.

The best bug-free months are Winter and Spring. The mosquitoe
season usually begins with the first Summer rains and last into the
early Fall. Screening is useful, but many rely on repellants such as
brand-name "Off" or DEET or Citronella which are available as a
spray, wipe-on, candle or torch.

There is a population of crocs near Marco Island Airport (just about
40 miles south of Ft. Myers).

I don't know nothing about the Fort Meyers area. But in some areas of
Florida, the cages are part of the city/county/whatever code. I'm sure some
folks are grandfathered. I know you only want to rent, but anyone
considering building would need to check that out.

Thanks very much Rog. The info is much appreciated.
Will think Oct then instead of Sept for renting.
Hopefully not a hurricane season there :-)
