Default Carnival M&M for Cruise Critics cruisers

I have gone to Meet & Mingle (or Meet & Greet) parties on several
different lines - RCI, HAL, Celebrity etc, but have never sailed on
Carnival before. The people on the CC boards who have sailed a lot on
Carnival do not seem to think that Carnival does anything except
provide a room with a way for people to order drinks. I know NCL
doesn't do much either - is that the norm for Carnival? RCI and HAL
provide munchies and often some goodies and sometimes the officers of
the ship attend.
