Trip across the USA
I always like it when people ask for help planning a trip but do not
specify time line or what they like. As a rule the US is a five day drive across. As your proposed route and the others posters I agree Corning is a good rest spot 4 hours from New York which will give you a good 4 hour visit next day take a slow drive in seeing the country side and wineries the next day as its a two drive to Niagara Falls cross over into Canada see the attractions and the falls under the lights at sundown. Drive to Detroit the next day or take a side trip to Toronto the to Detroit see the Henry Ford Museum, if this does not suit you at London turn to Sarnia cross over to US go to Lansing the onto Chicago. Chicago has a lot to see. Then onto St. Louis. which is as far as by road I have gone generally you save two hours to Detroit by going threw Canada or four to Chicago if you bypass Detroit http://discoverniagara.com/attractions/main/ http://www.torontotourism.com/Visitor http://www.choosechicago.com/museums...emberList.aspx see Alamo cars they have the best one way rates travel times report for US/Canada crossing at Niagara Falls 800-715-6722 hope this helps GAS will be high you may find some small motels and sites reduce costs as a result Henk wrote: Hi, We are making a trip across the States and a part of our trip is through Missouri, Kansas and Colorado. Starting at St. Louis and ending at Denver Colorado is there anything along the I 70 what we must see or avoid. Our route in general is. Starting in New York then Niagara Falls, Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Denver, Grand Canyon (South Rim and North Rim), Zion NP or Brice Canyon), LasVegas, Joshua NP, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, along the Coast via Highway 1 to San Francisco. From San Francisco we catch a plane back home to the Netherlands. If there is any body who can give us hints what to do or not, let us know. Henk. |

Trip across the USA

wrote: Another interesting attraction which is further west of Albuquerque is Meteor Crater (www.meteorcrater.com), a huge & spectacular meteor crater. It's about 35 miles east of Flagstaff. Winslow AZ. As in the Eagle's song. They have monuments in town to the song. The Crater is the Barringer family's. Useful to hear the song before hitting town and seeing a film like Star Man before seeing the Crater. -- |
