Default JCB card acceptance in Vancouver

That would be about 90% of the establishments in Vancouver. I don't have
numbers, but I would say that Japanese constitutes the bulk of tourism in
Vancouver.

Sorry, not even close. The vast majority of visitors to Vancouver are from
other parts of Canada (55%). Americans are in second place (31%).
Japan is a distant third, comprising only 2% of overnight visitors to the
region, which is actually down from the 3% share Japan had on average
from 1994-2003.

In fact, so far this year, there have been four times as many visitors
from Washington state alone than there have been from Japan.

The preferred order is usually Visa or MC (one more than the other for

I have found exactly two places that accept Visa but not MC, one was a
cafe-restaurant on Hastings Street, and the other is my dentist. There
are probably more, but after 20 years of living here I haven't found any.

The U.S. card Discover is hardly accepted here (if at all).

There are at least one or two tourist-oriented shops in Gastown that
accept it.

Retailers that accept American Express should be able to take JCB cards as
well. Amex has a partnership with JCB and they take each other's numbers.
The retailer might not display a JCB logo or even know about the Amex
partnership but it does exist. Try contacting Amex to confirm this.
