Gatwick Holiday in from Airport
I will be doing a twilight check in at Gatwick (South Terminal) and
spending the night at the Holiday Inn. With no luggage to carry can I walk from the airport to the hotel or will I end up on a road without pavements? Andrew. |

If you really want to walk, you will need to either walk along the main A23 without pavements or get the train to the north terminal, walk down the slip roads with no pavements, cross to the petrol station (Texaco I think) take the difficult to find cut-through of one of the hotels, then around some local roads and left at the roundabout (I think it is then about 50 yards with no pavement). Have you got medical insurance cover ? |

Have you got medical insurance cover ? Look it is £2.50 each for the shuttle bus and I am a mean and stingy Scot:-) I don't think that my insurance covers suicide. I was in Newcastle last month during the gales. We were walking up from the Quay to the city centre in the dark when we ran out of pavement. We kept going till we got to a "wind tunnel" and suddenly traffic came racing towards us. We edged back down to a point where we could climb over railings to a pavement that led to steps going to an underpass. At 70 we should not be doing that:-) Andrew.. |

WOW - 2.50 each - each way as well I guess, definately worth taking your life into your hands for that much - I'd take the risk and walk. Or maybe even google for the local bus routes, see if the one to Tesco stops nearby. Or email the hotel (I would suggest calling but that costs money) and ask about local busses. |
