Default How to Tell If Your Airline Pilot is Drunk

The Federal Aviation Administration rule is 8-hours between bottle and
throttle and that means not even one sip of alcohol 8-hours prior to
flight. Still, we have seen in the news high-profile cases of drunk
pilots and this scares the heck out of passengers. Even if these large
Airliners are easy to fly and practically fly themselves, no one would
dare get on an airplane when there is a drunk pilot in the cockpit;
would you?
How Common Are Drunken Pilot Incidents?
Well, despite what you have seen on Television such occurrences are
very rare. So, rare in fact, that you should never be worried that you
might end up on a plane where the pilot was drunk. And even if they
were, you must understand that there are two pilots in airliners so
there would most likely be one that was sober. So, the chances of both
the co-pilot and pilot being drunk are extraordinary low.
Further are many larger aircraft there are three pilots, the third
being a "flight engineer" and if the other two pilots were drunk, he
sure as heck would blow that whistle. Pilots must also check in before
they board the aircraft, so if they have been drinking or are drunk,
someone will see this. And then once they board the plane the other
members of the crew would notice if they were intoxicated.
So, if you want to know how to tell if your pilot is drunk, you can
ask the stewardess and she will tell you. Of course, if you see your
pilot stumbling around in a drunken stupor then for god's sake do not
get on that plane and go tell someone.
