Default Guided canoe trips?

I'm in the process of planning a return trip to Southern Africa. Does
anyone know of a guided canoe trip (multi-day preferred) that's
worthwhile, in the Botswana/northern South Africa area?

Also, now that Harry's is gone from Mala Mala, what is the most
affordable camp in the Sabi area - no luxury needed, just good game drives?

TIA, Nancy

I would say Elephants Plains (around R1500 pppn sharing). But have no
experience with them.

Corné.

I've heard that Swaziland has some good white water rafting.

White Water Rafting

White water rafting at the Mkhaya Game Reserve along the Usutu River is one
of Swazilands popular lesiure activities. For the most part the river is
slow and fairly tame apart from when it gets close to the Mlilwane Wildlife
Sanctuary, as it passes through the narrow Bulungu Gorge.

They also do Orange River expeditions. You may want to check it out.

Google 'Felix Unite'. I did a 6 day canoe trip with them about 6 years ago
on the Orange River between South Africa and Namibia, and it was excellent.
I was a canoe guide for 13 years, and completely felt at ease running a trip
as a client of theirs.

I have stayed at Elephant Plains twice, most recently in July 2004, so it's
a while ago now, but for what it's worth:

It's an excellent lodge for the price - not quite as plush as some of the
expensive places but still very comfortable. The staff and vehicles are
just as good as any I have encountered.

This is a link to photos from my 2004 trip - the ones taken at Elephant
Plains are at the beginning and are labelled with the location:

As you can see, there were a lot of leopard in the area.

Unless it has really changed for the worse in the last 18 mths I would
highly recommend it.

Michael
