Cruise to alaska: was Newbie to Alaska
I was wondering what ship you cruised on.etc. Also if any one has taken the
cruise/ rail package? I have taken 10 cruises to Alaska with a total of 18 trips there. I am NO fan of cruisetours. They are costly and lacking for what you get. BE very informed on what you are purchasing- some people don't have a clue. Allow enough time- at least a 7 day add on- any shorter will have more time in transit. Research yourself - head to your library and take out Alaska travel books. Distances are VAST. As an example rail Anchorage- Denali Park is 8 hours- no where mentioned in any cruise brochure- with an arrival around 4pm- hardly much time at that point for much touring- have at least 2 nights there. The included "tours" don't not get as far into the Park as the 1/3 costing SHUTTLE buses. Choose carefully- going independent- will offer you the options of seeing what is OF YOUR interest. Extremely easy to go on your own. A significant savings can be had using www.toursaver.com just another option. |
