Worry more about surf safety - we lose about 20 overseas tourists a year

in
drownings - zero from murder.

Ever heard of Milat?
And how about the guy who got murdered in the NT several years ago? You know
the Englishman whose girlfriend ran into the bush.

Gerrit - Oz (who doesn't want to scare the OP though)

I´m planning a trip to Australia. Mainly I´ll be staying in Sidney. Does
anyone know if it´s safe for tourists? Any bad experiences? Or are
warnings just urban legends? I don´t want to come back 6 feet
down-under.....
Good-day mates!
Peter

Hello Peter,

Sydney is safe

One night I went to the nightclub and these girls took me to their hotel
room, but when they saw the scar on my abdomen they didn't take my other
kidney

Another time I was lost and this group of men took me to their house. The
next thing I remember is I was walking down a highway without my clothes.
But that was ok because I was still alive

Once I was in a fight and this policeman tried to stop me fighting so I
punched him really hard in the mouth. The next thing I was in the hospital
and a nurse was giving me coffee. I had a big bandage around my head but
the bed was comfortable so I was grateful

It's good that I don't need to carry a gun to be safe in Sydney. All you
really need is a good knife

Hope that helps

Ed

I have lived in OZ and have been there visiting with my wife travelling
along the eastern half for 6 weeks. I live in Canada and have lived in the
USA and frequently travel south across the 49th parallel into the USA. I
have also travelled in parts of Europe - alone and with my son.

IMHO travelling to OZ is certainly safer than travelling to the USA. Big
city OZ is certainly safer than big-city USA, but then most of my travel
into the USA has been into big-city USA and so far, so good. The worst thing

that could possibly happen to you is running into a cow or kangaroo in rural

OZ - both of which can be deadly. Both events are highly unlikely, but they
could happen. Nevertheless, that is not to say you won't get killed in a
traffic accident there..

If you do go to OZ enjoy it for it will provide unforgettable experiences
that may cause you to return once again - and more.

Sydney is safe, safe, safe, but don't confound my comments byt going out
looking for trouble.

Agreed, but it's usually worse if you drive into these animals at high
speed.

Pete, cautioning that death through running into cows is actually fairly
rare.

Hello Ed and Everyone,

Carrying a concealed knife in Sydney without a good reason is illegal and
personal protection is not a good reason.
