Default London: Victoria is a safe place to stay?

Hello all.

I have been several times in london. in Bayswater, Marble Arch or Nothing
Hill area. This time, Im planning to travel there again and have found a
nice hotel in Victoria area, just in Belgrave Road.

Is this area safe?... Are there any pubs, restaurants, etc to dinner?.

Thanks for your reply.

Regards,

I have never stayed in Victoria, but I have been to the station and
the TIC several times a couple years ago when I spent a week in
London.

It seemed really congested--full of buses and traffic--kind of like
staying in Madison Square Garden area in NYC. If that doesn't bother
you, Victoria will be fine.

As for crime, we stayed at Earl's Court which was supposedly a not so
nice area, and I didn't get the impression that it was unsafe--we were
3 women travellers.

Regarding the restaurant and pub thing, you can always hop on the Tube
and head over to Leicester Square or other parts of London.

Have a good time.

Buckingham Palace is in Victoria. It is a very safe area, one of the most
expensive in the capital.

While I don't think that the area around Victoria is dangerous, just a
bit seedy the presence of the Queen is of no relevance. She lives in a
really gated community probably with a couple of companies of troops to
greet strangers. (Although occasionally someone breaks in.) Normal
folks are out on the streets. FFM

Your humour detector appears to be broken.

BTW I dont consider Victoria to be seedy althought
its certainly busy, especially around Victoria Station.
aware of. Along with Belgravia and Mayfair its one of the
most expensive districts in London.

If you want seedy take a look at Kings Cross.

It's pretty busy near Victoria station and Buckingham Palace but generally
safe. Belgrave road is lined with moderately priced hotels. Prices go down
as you move away from the station. I normally stay at the Sydney. It's
reasonable, clean and pretty convenient. There are several decent pubs in
the area with some pretty good "pub grub" but I don't recall any notable
restaurants. Adjacent to Victoria Station is Shakespeare's. It's pretty
touristy but I like their fish & chips. Behind Buckingham palace is a nice
pub called "Bag o' Nails".

Enjoy
