Default Spain overtook Italy in GDP per capita in 2006

Eurostat confirmed the data yesterday. With current projections Spain
will also surpass France and Germany in 5 to 6 years time and
eventually become the country with the highest GDP per capita out of
the five largest economies in Europe.

Spain already has a larger GDP per capita than Italy (G7 country) and
a larger economy than Canada (G7 country). So the obvious question is,
when is Spain joining the G7?.

Guinea, who told the USA to sod off

But now onto the really important European news story of the day.

There was a good one this morning hidden well away from the headline about
a US company losing the names and addresses of three million learner
drivers, about a British insurance company getting a very large fine for
breaches of confidentiality of millions of their customers. The news story
has disappeared. Odd!

Oh, it was big news... just that it's yesterday's news now.

Whereas they will still be rabitting on about Brown's incompetence in
letting a junior civil servant lose a CD right up to the next election.

To be fair, that's only one story in a wider picture. The reason it's in
the news is because of the bigger 'scandal' with the child benefit
details being lost. Also, it's not the big story it was yesterday...

They will join the G7 when they learn to wash their armpits and wear a
tie properly. Until then, it's back of the bus, Paco!
