Is Australia a good place to buy a laptop?

the rules are quite restrictive. I didn't know them and I arrived
with a pile of receipts at the airport and none of them qualified.
You have to arrange your purchase specifically with the idea of
getting the refund. Just about anything you buy in a normal shopping
pattern won't do. You have to have spent over a certain limit for
each item (laptop I'm sure qualifies) and at one shop at one time.

You need to look at the rules in detail

Only if you bought it within 30 days of leaving.

Full details are available from

I'd personally think not - the power supply is different, the warranty MAY

Most power supplies for notebooks now days will work anywhere in the world,
you just need to get the local cable for the end (readily available in
pretty much every country in the world) or an adaptor.

only apply in Aus (check Dell) and the keyboard is slightly different.

Dell do world-wide warranties, but I think you might need to pay extra
to get them (and/or their Custom Cary thingy)

Scott.
