We have stayed at the Sheraton which provides $5.00 a day parking in a covered
garage and free shuttle to and from the cruise terminal. Nice hotel. Stayed there twice within a few months for two cruises. It was around $89-90. They have cruise packages, but I didn't need the extra perks that came with it for a price. The other hotel I stayed in a year later was the THEN Hilton San Pedro. I got it for $45 on Priceline. Free parking and free shuttle to and from the cruise terminal and within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. That was nice, too. Especially the price! It's now called the Marina Hotel, I believe, and not sure if they honor Priceline now or not. sdcruisers wrote: Will be doing princess in a couple of months...any suggestions on where to stay price wise?? |

I agree with Linsifer. The Marina Hotel does participate in Priceline.
Just stayed there 11/26/04. They have 2 complimentary vans. My winning bid was $55 + taxes. They use to be a little lower BUT is an excellent price for the hotel. Parking was free during my 7 day cruise. Steve Hayes |

Stay away from the Best Western if you have a vehicle. They fill up
every available open area in the lot assigned for cruisers; thus, when you go to retrieve your car, there could be 2, 3, or more cars parked directly behind yours that prevents you from leaving. Further... They have a cheesy little van for a shuttle bus that apparently stays permanently parked at the hotel when the cruise ship comes in. ...I would suggest the Sheraton. I have never stayed there, but they do have a proper-sized shuttle bus that picks the passengers up (on time), plus they have a banking machine. (I had to walk there from the Best Western to use it) Further... When we stayed at the BW, we had to use a taxi to get back to the Hotel. The driver was the most obnoxious cab person I have ever encountered -- anywhere. I ended up giving him 5 bucks for a tip simply to appease his anger. He was mad 'cause the short run caused him to miss his line (And the chance of a larger fare), and also, he knew the BW had a shuttle service for their guests. ...Unfortunately, we had already been waiting 3/4 hr. for it-- along with about 20 other people. .It would have been a case of musical chairs to get a seat, even though about 4 of us were the first to be waiting at there station ;-( ..Jon |

You're right. $55 is still an excellent price, especially considering that
parking is free. We parked their for 10 nights while we were on the Sun Princess in 2003. I'm glad that they still honor Priceline. Steve wrote: I agree with Linsifer. I agree about BW Sunrise Inn. I haven't heard glowing reports about it. I
generally like Best Western, but this one leaves a lot to be desired, I hear. Not only that, a few years back when we originally planned to stay there, I had some very poor communication with their front desk. At one point they lost my reservation and there was just too much going wrong before we even got there, so decided to go with Sheraton. Loved it! But, as I said, for the low Priceline rate, I would have no problem going with the Marina Hotel again. They also had a decent shuttle system. I wish Sheraton would sign up for Priceline because overall, that's my favorite hotel. Lindsay Jon said: Stay away from the Best Western if you have a vehicle.
