Default Where to get the most for your dollar?????????

Hi group, where is the best place to book a trip
to the Caribbean , or Mexico .(not including
cruises).

(No Travelocity please) We have booked with
Orbits, Expedia, Worryfree(which are all fine) but
there should be some place that offers extra
special prices on late departures (last minute),
or places that are not frequented by all the
tourist.(just the biggest bang for your buck)!

We are seniors and enjoy friendly people and
pleasant weather.

Our requirements are, warm weather and reasonably
good food.

Have a good vacation- -Onslo

Truth be told, I'm not telling anyone about OUR favorite places, or the
places we intend to visit in the future.

As well as we've documented our past BVI trips, *we* head for places we
don't mention on our pages when we're down alone.

Thanks for your post Jere, I appreciate your
candor.

I guess it is just the difference in people's
preception of why we post to news groups. We
always enjoy telling other where we have been,
and of our likes and dislikes.

However; I do see your point, and wish you sucess
on your next adventure (where ever it is).

If you are looking for bargains, have you tried Priceline.com? What
about some of the local trip consolidators who advertise in your local
newspaper? Sometimes the best deals come from a local source.

Hi,

just wondering... why not travelocity?

I use them a lot and get as good a price from them as any of the big
sites...

now I have booked direct or via specialty sites... went to couples ocho
rios last summer... booked the AI resort via a specialty site that just
does AIs... but their airfare stank... so I got r/t air on travelocity.

I've done amsterdam r/t with 4 nights in a 4* leidsplein hotel for $450
via a last minute deal there.... last minute weekends in SF with decent
hotel cheap... I like their last minute deals

There *is* another part to it... The best-known places are best-known
for good reasons, often safety. Some of the places we're cleared to go
are *not* for inexperienced or incautious sailors.

Most of the other places appeal only to a certain personality. I share
those off-line to people who sound like they would appreciate the
unusual beauty or sheer funkiness. One anchorage is nothing by a small
beach, trees, space enough for 2 boats (maybe) and a great reef. Nothing
else. Great "deserted island" scene for my lady and me.

Vacationhomes.com has a "Last Minute Specials" section. Oftentimes when
you email the owners with a fee reduction request, they are willing to
extend a discount. Additionally, renting homes through vrbo.com -
"rentals by owner" - often gets you in touch with the owner who can
offer last-minute deals.
