We're going to China soon. I'm allergic to MSG - Is it commonly

used most
places? Any ideas on how to avoid it?

yeah... think of it as aji-no-moto (tasty stuff), recognize that no

medical
research has ever discovered such a thing as an MSG allergy, and

avoid
chinese restaurants...

You know, restaurants in China are not **Chinese** restaurants, they
are just restaurants.

ah, duh... it was a joke, like the rest of the post... in my experience, the
bogus MSG allergy folk are always on about Chinese food... japanese food,
which is often full of aji-no-moto (as are home-cooked dishes in many, many
homes in Nippon), gets a pass, on accounta cuz it's well-known to be
"healthy"... and by the way, macdonald's is not a chinese restaurant; it is,
however, found in china...

I just spent 2 weeks in China. I have an MSG reaction, and I did not
encounter in anywhere I ate.

This may be because MSG syndrome occurs mainly if you consume MSG on an
empty stomach. It's most often added to soup, and in the US, soup is a
first course. In China it is a last course, so you have a full stomach
by the time you consume it.
