Default NYC - apartment??

Helping a friend who seems sure she wants apartment rental for a week
NYC (rather than hotel)...2 couples, need 2 bdrm... I have suggested
one hotel (which I have stayed at several times and like) with
kitchenette and 2 room suite near Rockefeller Center.....she seems
stuck on apartment idea...anyone have suggestions for hotels with 2
room suites I can suggest as an alternate to apt? They want to stay
in theater district. From what I can see sublets are pretty much not
allowed, most places I've seen are studio or 1 bdrm.

Because from the pics we have seen online for 2 bdrms (which are few
and far between) they look dismal - twin beds, no sheets, flea market
furniture. Most of what she has found are studios and/or 1
bdrms...not going to work for 2 couples...

price for 2 bedroom hotel suite w/kitchen facilities about equal to
what she has seen for apts....

and finally, friends who have tried apts have had horror stories about
reality vs. promises....

after several nights of web-surfing she has decided hotel might be
better...looking now into hotels that have 2 room suites
w/kitchen...have found two in theater distirct w/good reviews on
tripadvisor. Undoubtedly more out there. Open to any recs...
