I have read about a foundation giving tours with a historically costumed
guide. Has anyone been? Is it worthwhile or just rushed through the
streets.

Worthwhile--they start at the information center on the Boston Commons right
along Tremont St. You should walk along the freedom trail on your own and
set your own pace. What ever is important is well documented with plaques
and the like. You may want to linger longer at specific points than
allowed.

I recently walked the entire Freedom Trail one night by myself at
10:30PM (what was I thinking?!). I walked right by Paul Revere's
house and didn't know it until I got to the Old North Church (I did
find it on the way back).

My point? I think a tour with a guide (costumed or not) would be MUCH
more interesting and educational. And I will also say that I'm really
glad I did the walk and feel I'm a "better" American for having seen
these historic places first-hand.
