(Salon)---She survived a flight with 14 harmless Syrian musicians -
then spread 3,000 bigoted and paranoid words across the Internet. As a
pilot and an American, I'm appalled.

If Annie Jacobsen was just being paranoid and over reacting, then why were
the men held and questioned after the flight? Obviously, someone higher up
(flight attendants, pilots, air marshals, etc.) also thought the behavior
was suspicious. As a passenger, one cannot help but be a little more
sensitive to unusual behavior than normal.

Were they terrorists? Who knows. Either way, suspicious behavior on an
airline flight should be taken very seriously.

You can't just judge musicians as harmless. This one time at band
camp...

Clint Taylor at NRO has done some research on the Syrian music group
playing at Sycuan, a San Diego County casino

http://www.nationalreview.com/commen...0407211921.asp

but then Taylor has this ominous note that makes one's blood run cold:

In fractions of a second, Mr. Google found a website for Sycuan's
event promoters, Anthem Artists, whose archive confirms Nour Mehana
performed at Sycuan on 7/01/04.
And then I noticed something that was truly terrifying, something
linking Nour Mehana to a figure of such repulsive evil that I felt a
rush of prickly fear not unlike Jacobsen's:
Just one week later, the same company that arranged Mehana's
performance, also booked Carrot Top!

Very good... and, it makes sense to at least some people that not
everyone understands English, even when the flight crew is speaking (or
shouting) it.
Maybe the biased reporter in the original article thought they should
dbeen shot by an air marshal simply for failing to not understand a
flight attendant shouting at them in English, since (as many American
tourist will tell you), shouting in English makes you understood
perfectly in any language.

But of course if it got that far then all those air marshals would have been
able to talk in perfect Arabic and there wouldn't have been a problem.

Because, of course, when air marshals are 'invented' (or significantly
expanded) to deal with a threat from (some members of) Arabic speaking
countries they are taught to speak and read fluently in Arabic so they can
properly deal with a given situation.

Aren't they...................
