Please note that Peggy's cove is just 35 miles from Halifax Harbour (55
minutes) so is easily seen in 1/2 a day and definately worth the trip.

OK ... but it will cost you ... make sure you write a good review as we
are going on the same cruise a week later ...

Halifax is a terrific city ... one can get lunch near the pier in a
nice pub type atmosphere ... a short distance away is the Maritime
Museum and Alexander Keith's Brewery ... One can get some history with
an actual deck chair from the Titanic ... and even a replica to try out
... The brewery offers a delightful period tour ... with some free beer
towards the end ...

Definitely not walking distance (though the hop/on hop/off bus ticket
is cheap and you can buy one right by the museum) but at the high point
is the Citadel ... offering the history of the town and great views of
the city and harbor ...

There is a Casino ... where losing Canadian money is quite a bit
cheaper ... and the scenery and trip to Peggy's Cove is worthwhile ...
but would take most of the day ...

I'd opt for Hop/On Hop/Off bus tickets and see the Museum/Brewery and
Citadel ... making sure to have lunch at one of the pubs ...

The highlight of St. John is the tidal surge and the reversing falls
... I'd rent a car for something like $50 ... Tour the town and a
nearby fishing village ... making sure to time the reversing falls
shortly after low tide ...

Be sure to be out on deck when your ship approaches the dock. You will be

I concur (last time we took 6's suggestion to visit the brewery... good
move).

You can do Peggy's cove in about a half day. And the Swiss Air flight 111
memorial (very close to Peggy's Cove) is VERY touching. Very emotional
seeing the teddy bears, flowers, etc. left there by families for their loved
ones lost on the flight. Definitely one of the wonderful (though very sad)
memories of our cruise there.

night's show, one of the most spectacular indoor events in the world
featuring some 2,000 performers from around the globe. The good part
is, the bands and performing groups put on free shows around Halifax
during each day of the show. You might see a pipe band from New Zealand
or acrobats from Germany. The performances take place at locations such
as the pier near the museum or on the green in the center of town...all
within walking distance. Check with the tourism people as soon as you
land. A weekly schedule is published at the start of the show. These
are some of the most famous military bands and performers from all over
the world.

So far as Peggy's Cove; go early. If you get a car and can arrive
during early to mid-morning, you will beat most of the charter busses
that come rolling in and overwhelm the village later in the day.

road leading to Peggy's Cove. There is another memorial across St.
Margaret's Bay. The two of them triangulate with the crash location to
