Default Sukhumvit Road hotels in the $25-$30 range

Hello again--

Does anyone have any personal recs for budget hotels on Sukhumvit
road? I found this online, as a pointer (url below)..the Rex Hotel at
$18/night sure looks like a deal, but i always thought you get what
you paid for? I've stayed at the Ambassador and the Asia Airport
Hotel, so my experience in the below $30 range is nil. I might add,
it's for my mom (60s, arthritic) and sister - so some place clean and
safe, as well as cheap and near shopping is needed.

Thanks so much for the earlier replies shopping. Looking fwd to
hearing more.

5 min. walk from Rama IV I think.
Malaysia Hotel is on Soi Ngam Duphli, off Rama IV, and nothing I would
recommend. Not the nicest neighbourhood.

Hi,

I recommend Swiss Park Hotel for your ranged price. Last time I stayed there for business booked at http://www.hotels2thailand.com (cheapest than others , I think) . Everything was o.k. ,people there were very nice to me(very impressed).
Another one is Royal Park View Hotel , this is another good one , but maybe price is over your range.

This may not be quite in the budget category you were think of, but
Nana Inn, just opposite the Grace Hotel and next door to the Bangkok
Bank branch in soi 3 is a nice family run hotel. Rooms are 850 Baht a
night. The food in the restaurant is good also. The owner used to run
a Vietnamese restaurant in Bangkok.

I think the best buy right now is the Manhattan Hotel on Soi 15 which you
can get through the bangkoktonight.com web site for 860 baht (about $22).
Its normal rate is about $35. This is a 3 star hotel - at a real good
price. Dennis

true

But watch out for the the guy calling the taxi at the entrance of the
Manhattan
He is very screwd in money change scams of all kind

I can recommend the German restaurant opposite the Manhattan hotel.

Concur with the recommendations for the Manhattan Hotel....clean and
respectable it caters to lots of Korean tourist....it is located about 1/2
block off of Sukhumvit and the tourist sites...prices reasonable, rooms
large & clean!
