Default Gambia - where to go?

hello everybody, i am going to gambia in a couple of weeks. what's the
best place to experience this small nation at its best.. any tips are
more than welcome!

Gambia is so small the question almost doesn't make sense - you could
just as well ask "take the road on the north side of the river or the
south side?" (and the answer would be to go on one and come back on the
other).

Anyway, how much time do you have there? The area around Banjul is worth
a bit of exploration, and there aren't any really spectacular sights
anywhere in the country so you can just wander. By West African
standards, Gambia does pretty well for wildlife and the scenery is
pleasant enough although not too interesting.

Do get out to the beaches at least once. See Abuko Reserve. Go to
Georgetown (a good place for a river boat ride and they have some
stone circles there but don't expect Stonehenge).
