Budapest Question
Budapest Question.
Hi everyone. Will be visiting Budapest then Vienna and on to Prague in April. I visited Prague in Jan this year (please see my trip report for the first two days of the visit at http://djmp.co.uk/prague/ ) Booked for 5 nights in Budapest at the Agro Panorama 54 NORMAFA ÚT, I will ,over the next few weeks, be asking your advice about Vienna and Budapest: but my first few questions are a) I have read three guide books about the city and have planned the sites I think I want to see: but anyone willing to give me ( in their opinion) the 2 must see attractions. b) Not into swimming or bathing : but can one go into the Baths just to take photographs of the architecture c)Am I right in saying that the "Children's Railway" is run by children but adults are also welcome to travel. Kind regards DAVE http://djmp.co.uk/ |

Budapest Question
b) Not into swimming or bathing : but can one go into the Baths just to take photographs of the architecture? You should write to ask about it. When we were at the Szechenyi baths last August there were metal signs screwed to the wall in the foyer indicating that photography was not allowed. |

I was just thinking that myself, as I noticed the signs when we were there last year. -- David Horne- http://www.davidhorne.net usenet (at) davidhorne (dot) co (dot) uk http://homepage.mac.com/davidhornecomposer http://soundjunction.org |

Same goes for the Rudas baths. Too bad the OP is not interested in getting wet; visiting one of the baths is definitely at the top of my list of Budapest "must do's"! I'd also spend a day wandering around the Budavar (castle district). Lots of excellent museums, art galleries, old architecture, etc. There are spectacular views of the city from up there, and it is lit up beautifully at night. Bring a camera and tripod for some nice night shots. -- K. |
