Update: fall color, southern Rockies
http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/colors/current.htm --updated 9-12.
Summary: not much yet, which is also true in the southern (NM) Sangres. Any other reports? Cheers -- Pete Tillman Santa Fe |

Colorado: I surveyed the Front Range west of Denver on Sunday. Less than 5% change! In fact many stands have no change at all. Alpine tundra up to 12,000 feet: some change but still a lot of green (very unusual). The aspen leaves are losing their color so it should be soon, but things may be late this year unless something starts happening fast. We had snow Saturday down to about 8,000 feet, but it has mostly melted, so no white mountain tops at the moment west of Denver. The San Juans have up to 10 inches from recent storms so there should be white caps there. Roger |

Aspens around the Santa Fe ski basin area are coloring up nicely now.
